Frequently asked questions

What bulb does a plaster uplighter take?

There is room at the back for a bayonet coupling and a candle-type bulb, 60 watt maximum. An LED can be concealed instead.

How is the uplighter fixed to the wall?

With adhesive. Depending on the design, there is roughly 50mm to 70mm of space behind it for the light fitting. Each listing gives the size.

Can it replace my existing wall lights?

Yes. Our plaster uplighters are made to be fitted as wall lights in place of your old ones, casting light up the wall.

Who should do the wiring?

Have a qualified electrician connect and check the light fitting.

Can I paint a plaster uplighter?

Yes. Make sure the plaster is fully dry and clean, seal it with a primer or a mist coat (watered-down paint), then finish with a water-based paint. A fine brush helps on detailed patterns.
