Frequently asked questions

How is the lightweight range different from your plaster range?

These modern products are made from lightweight polymer. They are a faster, easier-to-fit alternative to our heritage mouldings: more uniform, quicker to deliver and simpler to install. Our plaster range remains the premium choice.

Who makes them, and what are they made from?

They are made by ORAC Decor. Depending on the product, the material is Duropolymer, Purotouch (high-density polyurethane) or Durofoam (high-density polystyrene). Each listing gives the material.

Which adhesive should I use?

Use the ORAC products in lightweight adhesives and fillers: DecoFix Ultra FX400 for bonding the joints between mouldings, DecoFix Power FDP700 for heavy cornices, and DecoFiller FL300 for finishing gaps, joints and cracks after fitting.

Do lightweight ceiling roses need screws?

Our lightweight ceiling roses glue straight to the ceiling. For some larger roses, such as R24, R40 and R73, ORAC advises screwing as well as gluing. Check the listing.

How long are the lengths?

Most lightweight cornice, skirting and panel mouldings come in 2m lengths. DX174 is 2.6m. Each listing gives the length and size.

When can I paint them?

They are ready to paint once fitted. Leave DecoFix adhesives 24 hours before painting. DecoFiller can be painted after about 15 minutes.
