Frequently asked questions

Are your plaster archways made to measure?

Yes. Our archways are made to measure and designed and produced by us. On our archways page you can enter the approximate measurements of your opening to cost your arch.

What's the difference between the half section and full section archway?

The half section is the top section bulkhead, including the centre keystones and architraves, finishing to a lower capping mould. The full section adds fluted pilasters with top capping and built-in skirtings. The Half Section Plaster Archway To Corbels has two corbels instead, in a fluted or plain finish.

Do I have to remove my skirting boards?

Not for the full section archway or our pilasters. The skirting is built in and hollowed, so it fits over most existing skirtings without removing them.

Can I fit an archway myself?

The archway sections are recommended to be fitted by a qualified tradesperson. If you want to form the curve yourself, our arch former creates the curve in your opening, which you then finish with finish plaster.

What size is the arch former?

It is a set size, 350mm x 350mm, for a wall thickness of 3¼in to 3¾in. It is normally delivered on our own van, because it can be damaged in transit.

Which keystones go with which architraves?

Our pre-formed architrave sets come with 4 architraves and 2 keystones, in 3½in or 4in widths. Spare keystones are sold in pairs: plain keystones suit the 3½in architraves and ribbed keystones suit the 4in.
