Frequently asked questions
Which size of cornice do I need for my room?
Go by ceiling height first. Most of our cornice listings state the room height the profile is designed for, for example up to 8ft 6in, 9ft or 10ft. A deeper profile suits a taller room. If you are unsure, call us on 01204 693900, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
How long is each length, and how much should I order?
Most profiles come in 3m (10ft) lengths. A few are a little shorter, such as 2.9m, so check the length options on the listing. Measure the room perimeter and order a little extra to allow for mitres and wastage.
Can I order a sample before buying full lengths?
Yes. Every cornice profile in this range has a Sample option. Choose Sample instead of the full length on the product page.
What adhesive do I use to fit plaster cornice?
Use a coving adhesive. We stock Gyproc Coving Adhesive (5kg and 12.5kg) and Herculite Fibrefix Adhesive (5kg and 25kg) in our fixing and filling adhesives range.
How do I fit plaster cornice?
Measure the room, mark level guide lines on the wall and ceiling, cut the corners with a mitre box and fine-toothed saw, then apply coving adhesive to the edges that touch the wall and ceiling and press the cornice into place. Our step-by-step installation guide takes you through it.
Can you match my existing cornice?
Often, yes. Start by tracing the profile. If it is not in our range, our plaster matching service can reproduce it. The cost depends on how much reconstruction the profile needs and how much you need, so small amounts can cost more than a standard cornice.
