Which adhesive should I use for plaster cornice and ceiling roses?
Gyproc Coving Adhesive from British Gypsum is for securing coving to plaster walls and ceilings. Herculite Fibrefix is a trade adhesive for fixing fibre reinforced plasterwork, including cornices, ceiling roses and GRG sections. For our lightweight polymer mouldings, use the ORAC adhesives in lightweight adhesives and fillers instead.
How much adhesive do I need?
As a guide, 1kg of Gyproc Coving Adhesive or Herculite Fibrefix fixes about 3m (10ft) of cornice.
How long does it take to set?
Both adhesives set in around 45 minutes. Adding Fine Casting Plaster Plus speeds up the setting time, so do a small test first.
How long does a bag keep?
Herculite Fibrefix has a shelf life of 4 months and Gyproc Coving Adhesive 6 months.
What is Fine Casting Plaster Plus used for?
Making casts, moulds and runs for bench work, filling and making good joints, and speeding up the setting of Gyproc coving adhesive, Herculite Fibrefix or other plasters (do a small test first). On its own it sets in about 4 to 5 minutes.
Can I use them to fill joints and mitres?
Yes. Gyproc Coving Adhesive can fill and make good joints and mitres, and Herculite Fibrefix is suitable for filling and making good. Our cornice fitting guide shows where this fits in.
